  • (a) Senator Mal Colston (ALP, Queensland) resigned from the ALP to sit as an Independent.

  • (b) The Senate following the October 1998 elections. Senator Heather Hill (One Nation, Queensland) was declared invalidly elected by the Court of Disputed Returns on the grounds of foreign citizenship. She was replaced by Senator Len Harris.

  • (c) Senator Shayne Murphy (ALP, Tasmania) resigned from the ALP to sit as an Independent.

  • (d) The Senate following the November 2001 elections. Senators elected do not take up their seats until July 1, 2002.
