V.C.E. Politics Exam Paper Held Today
November 22, 2001
Students across Victoria today sat for the 2001 VCE Political Studies exam paper. The 2-hour paper comprised compulsory short answer questions on core topics and a choice of essays.
As in previous years, the exam setting panel produced a fair paper which allowed students to demonstrate their knowledge and gave them an opportunity to mount strong arguments about current political issues.
Amongst the issues canvassed on the paper was the political role of the High Court, the effectiveness of the House of Representatives Speaker, the significance of by-election results (remember Ryan?!) and the meaning of globalisation.
Essay questions dealt with the role of the Governor-General, Cabinet domination of the ministry and parliament, the influence of economic issues on election results, differences between the ALP and Liberal Party, and the importance of regional security issues and the ANZUS alliance.
