The Weeks Ahead ...

October 6, 2001

Now that the election has been called, VCEpolitics.com will provide extensive coverage of the mechanics of the process over the next five weeks. At each stage of the electoral cycle, the reasons and significance of events will be explained. This will get underway on Monday when the Parliament is dissolved. In the meantime, click here for information on the election timetable.

Major policy announcements and campaign launches will also be covered here. We do not provide a complete news coverage - go the media section for that - but a comprehensive record of statements from the major groups will be available here over the coming weeks.

Of particular interest will be the reports from Ari Sharp, the Australian Democrats candidate for Kooyong. Ari, one of the youngest candidates contesting this election, will provide a view from the inside of an election campaign.

VCEpolitics.com will also provide examples of campaign literature produced the various parties and candidates. Click here to see the first offering from the Education Minister, David Kemp.

In addition, an archive of audio clips will be maintained over the coming weeks. The opening salvos from John Howard and Kim Beazley are already available. What's more, a selection of historical sound clips will also be developed.

More election material will be provided in the weeks ahead. Keep coming back!
